Pelpuo advocates for independent commission to regulate public sector pay

Minister of State for Special Initiatives Dr Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo has proposed the creation of an independent commission to manage remuneration in Ghana's public sector. He argues that a standardized and transparent system would address disparities in current salary structures and reduce the likelihood of institutions seeking separate pay agreements. Pelpuo made these remarks during an appearance on The Pulse on JoyNews. He cited the recent strike by Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) as evidence that salary frustrations are widespread and justified. “One of the reasons CLOGSAG was going on strike was because we were all agitating that our salary structures should be changed so we can earn more,” he said.
