Ghana Rakes in $656M from July to Dec 2025 Tourism
Tourism earned over $656M in six months as Ghana welcomed 500,000 foreign tourists in H2 2025, highlighted at Ahafo Awards.
Ghana raked in more than $656 million in tourism receipts between July and December 2025, according to the Ghana Tourism Authority. The authority also confirmed over 500,000 international arrivals during that period as the country solidifies its place as a preferred West African destination.
The figures emerged at the 2nd Ahafo Regional Tourism Awards in Goaso, where industry players were celebrated under the theme "Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders – The Blackstar Experience." The ceremony recognized top performers across hospitality, culture and eco-tourism, reflecting Ghana’s rich heritage and natural assets.
Johny Arthur Quarm, Director of Research at the Ghana Tourism Authority, used the occasion to urge stakeholders to adopt technology, improve training and uphold safety standards. He stressed that preserving culture, environment and sacred sites must go hand in hand with growth.
Regional officials echoed these calls, with Ahafo Regional Director Alfred Asumadu highlighting regulatory gaps. He urged residents to reject unlicensed operators, emphasizing the need to protect revenue-generating tourism elements across the region.
The awards event reinforced the mandate that sustainable tourism requires both investment and stewardship, ensuring local communities benefit directly from the sector’s expanding footprint.
