NPP National Executive Elections: Provisional Results Show Fierce Battles for Top Posts

Over 7,000 delegates cast votes in Kumasi as NPP races to fill key national executive positions ahead of 2028 preparations.
Provisional figures released by Adomonline.com indicate that voting for the New Patriotic Party’s national executive elections is underway at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with several contests remaining razor‑tight.
More than seven thousand party delegates exercised their franchise to elect officials for the National Chairman, First and Second Vice Chairpersons, Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Communications Officer and Nasara Organiser. The exercise forms part of the NPP’s broader effort to restructure its internal machinery after the 2024 general election defeat and to lay a foundation for the 2028 polls.
Among the most watched contests are the chairmanship race and the Ashanti regional seat. In the combined Ahafo and Oti regions, John Boadu secured 189 votes while Sammy Crabbe managed just two, and Paul Afoko gathered 33. Boakye Agyarko trailed with 125 ballots. In the Ashanti polling station C tally, Boadu again emerged with 161 votes, while Boakye Agyarko collected 142. Additional provisional counts show Boadu receiving 113 votes in another Ashanti station and 161 at a different centre, with BA listed as 134.
Party communicator Justin Kodua has publicly stated that he harbours no grievances against John Boadu and is prepared to work together moving forward. He emphasised unity as the party consolidates its leadership ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The election process involves sorting, counting and collation across multiple voting centres before the final results can be announced. Stakeholders expect a smooth transition once the data is fully verified.
The outcome of these internal elections will shape the party’s regional coordination and grassroots mobilisation strategies as it seeks to regain political ground lost in the recent general election.
