Re‑elected NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua promises unity and focused effort ahead of the 2028 elections.

Justin Frimpong Kodua has been re‑elected as the New Patriotic Party’s General Secretary following the party’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi. In a brief interview with JoyNews he outlined the priorities he will pursue in his next term. He stressed that teamwork, underpinned by discipline, must become the party’s guiding principle. “The expectation of the party is clear,” he said. “We must win the 2028 elections together.”

Kodua highlighted that the party’s national executives are tasked with a single mission: delivering victory at the next general poll. He said the party’s success depends on collective action rather than individual ambition. “There is no competition,” he added, recounting visits to all sixteen regions where delegates expressed confidence in his stewardship. Their feedback, he said, was heartfelt and free of rivalry.

The General Secretary also spoke about the need to reorganise the party’s structures and foster internal collaboration. He pledged to support the selection of a flagbearer, naming Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s presidential candidate. “Our focus is on building a united front that can win,” he affirmed.

Other party figures, including John Boadu, who was elected National Chairman, echoed calls for unity. Boadu urged members to choose cohesion over division and to work toward a renewed party identity. He described the current moment as one of responsibility rather than triumph.

Kodua’s re‑election comes at a time when the NPP is seeking to consolidate its internal mechanisms ahead of the 2028 contest. He said the party will continue to engage with regional delegates to refine its strategy. The overall message from the leadership is a commitment to disciplined cooperation as the path to electoral success.
