Ghana secures flagship trade forum in Sydney set for 2026
Ghana and Australia to host multimillion‑dollar trade forum in Sydney next October targeting investment across agriculture, tourism, tech and more.
Ghana is set to deepen its economic and cultural ties with Australia through the Ghana‑Australia Multicultural & Investment Forum (GAIF) 2026, which will take place in Sydney on October 13‑14, 2026. The two‑day event, held at the PARKROYAL Parramatta, will bring together more than 500 participants including Deputy Ministers for Foreign Affairs James Gyakye Quayson, Agriculture John Dumlo and representatives from the Ghana High Commission, Ghana Tourism Authority and Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Organisers say the forum is meant to turn goodwill between the two nations into concrete business deals for traders, farmers and startups in both countries.
The gathering is positioned as a key platform to showcase Ghana’s role as a gateway to the wider West African market under the African Continental Free Trade Area, while Australia is seen as a growing investment frontier for African goods. Officials highlighted that the bilateral relationship, built on democratic governance and mutual respect, has already seen cooperation in mining, agriculture, education and emerging technologies. The six focus areas of the forum include trade and investment, tourism and culture, agriculture and agribusiness, technology and innovation, diaspora engagement and real estate.
A central theme is the Ghanaian diaspora in Australia, which organisers say contributes significantly through remittances and entrepreneurial activity that can link investors in both markets. With both sides aiming to translate diplomatic goodwill into tangible opportunities, the forum is expected to catalyse new partnerships that could boost export volumes, attract foreign direct investment and create jobs for Ghanaians and Australians alike.
