Gender Ministry Launches National Early Childhood Development Committee
The Gender Ministry has launched the National Inter-Sectoral Early Childhood Care and Development Committee to coordinate Ghana's 2025 ECCD Policy and boost early-year investment.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has inaugurated the National Inter-Sectoral Early Childhood Care and Development Committee (NIEC) to steer Ghana’s Early Childhood Care and Development Policy 2025. Madam Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the sector minister, revealed the new body would merge scattered efforts into one clear system for children’s physical, emotional, social and mental growth.
Chaired by the ministry’s Chief Director, the NIEC brings together government, private sector and civil society to push early childhood development. It follows a 2025 national plan that focuses on health, nutrition, early learning and safety for kids up to eight years old.
The minister explained early childhood shapes lifelong learning and health. By uniting agencies and sharing progress data, she hopes faster action can better protect and grow Ghanaian children’s potential.
The committee was presented with the ECCD policy details and tasked to coordinate strategies across authorities and partners emerging trends.
