Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia urged party faithful to accept election outcomes peacefully as the NPP concluded its National Delegates Conference in Kumasi.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) held its National Delegates Conference in Kumasi, drawing thousands in a display of blue, white and red.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s 2028 presidential candidate, addressed delegates, emphasizing unity and peace as the NPP moves toward the next election cycle.

He praised the Ashanti Region as the party’s heart, recalling how the region supported the NPP during difficult times.

Bawumia thanked Acting National Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey for stabilising the party after the 2024 election loss, and former Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, for his service.

He also acknowledged National Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim and highlighted the legacy of former presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, citing policies such as NHIS, School Feeding and Free SHS.

The conference featured 47 aspirants vying for nine national offices, showcasing a depth of talent within the party.

Bawumia called on winners and losers alike to remain committed, urging the party to move forward united.

He stressed that the NPP has been listening to Ghanaians across markets, streets, farms and campuses since December 2024 to improve governance and communication.

The party has already held early presidential primaries, which Bawumia said are yielding results through policy committees and stakeholder engagements.

He assured Ghanaians that governance planning for 2029 is already underway, stating that the party will not wait for campaign season to begin governing preparations.

Bawumia concluded with a call for unity, asking delegates to leave Kumasi as one family committed to national development.

The event was covered live on MyJoyOnline and monitored by party officials and media.

NPP delegates approved constitutional amendments making the flagbearer the party’s official leader.

The next phase involves internal elections and preparation for the 2028 campaign.

No public event with a fixed date was announced in the source material.
