GhLA signs MoU with AfYEF to develop Mahama Presidential Library and Legacy Centre

The Ghana Library Authority has entered a partnership with the AfCFTA Young Entrepreneurs Federation to develop the John Dramani Mahama Presidential Library and Legacy Centre. This collaboration aims to enhance the library’s role as a knowledge hub and support youth-driven research and innovation across the continent.

The MoU was formalised to leverage the Federation’s network of young entrepreneurs to contribute to the library’s development. The partnership will facilitate capacity-building programmes, mentorship opportunities, and research support for emerging African leaders. It also aligns with broader efforts to position Ghana as a centre for intellectual and economic advancement.

John Dramani Mahama, former President of Ghana, has championed the library project as a legacy initiative to preserve national history and inspire future generations. The JDM-PLLC is intended to serve as a centre for research, education, and cultural exchange, reflecting Ghana’s commitment to sustainable development and good governance.

The collaboration between GhLA and AfYEF underscores a growing emphasis on youth engagement in national development. By integrating young entrepreneurs into the library’s framework, the initiative seeks to foster innovation and empower the next generation of African leaders.

The JDM-PLLC project is part of a broader vision to create a world-class institution that honours Ghana’s democratic heritage. The library will house archives, digital resources, and exhibition spaces to promote civic education and historical awareness.

This partnership reflects a strategic move to harness private sector and youth energy for public infrastructure. It also highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing national development goals.

The library’s development will involve infrastructure upgrades, digitalisation of archives, and community outreach. These efforts aim to ensure the facility serves both local and international audiences effectively.

The partnership between GhLA and AfYEF is expected to accelerate the JDM-PLLC’s progress and enhance its impact on Ghana’s educational and economic landscape.

The initiative aligns with Ghana’s broader goals of promoting youth empowerment and economic inclusion. It also supports the country’s efforts to position itself as a leader in African development and governance.

The JDM-PLLC is set to become a landmark project that showcases Ghana’s commitment to preserving its history and fostering future leadership. This partnership marks a significant step toward achieving that vision.

The collaboration will focus on developing programmes that support young entrepreneurs and researchers. These efforts will ensure the library remains a dynamic and relevant institution for generations to come.
