A political analyst, Dr Samuel Afriyie, has suggested that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) consider making its flagbearer the overall party leader to foster stronger cohesion within the organisation. He believes this move would streamline decision‑making and present a united front in upcoming elections.
The call comes at a time when the NPP is strategising for the next electoral cycle, seeking to consolidate support across its various factions. Dr Afriyie highlighted that a clear leadership structure could improve communication with grassroots members and enhance the party's messaging.
He stressed that adopting such an arrangement would not diminish internal democracy, but rather provide a focal point for coordination. According to him, the flagbearer already commands significant visibility and support, making the transition pragmatic.
