Police acting on intelligence intercepted a Voxy minibus in Kasoa on September 30, allegedly loaded with narcotics disguised as herbal produce. Two suspects have been arrested and remanded after officers recovered substances including dried leaves marked Green Gold and a whitish powder from the vehicle and a suspect's residence.
Crime Check Ghana confirmed the arrests of Asando Asankiba and Beatrice Amegashie following the operation that began when officers stopped the commercial Voxy at a Kasoa checkpoint. During questioning, Asankiba claimed he was merely transporting substances named Green Gold to Tarkwa for a contact known as Akos, leading police directly to Amegashie's home where the search uncovered additional narcotics.
The police recovered six yellow-packaged parcels of dried leaves and separate sealed bags containing further questionable material, all now under forensic review. Both detainees remain in police custody as narcotics experts analyze the findings, with prosecutors expected to determine next steps once testing concludes.
Authorities say this arrest reflects ongoing efforts to disrupt drug supply routes targeting Ghanaian communities, particularly along key transit corridors like the Kasoa-Tarkwa axis where such shipments have historically passed through.
