Wendy Shay clarifies viral Lasmid thigh video

Wendy Shay explains why she moved Lasmid's hand during a music video shoot in Accra
Wendy Shay has responded to weeks of online claims about a viral video showing her removing Lasmid’s hand from her thigh during a Ghanaian music video shoot. The clip, shared widely on platforms like Instagram, captured the two artists seated close together while filming their new collaboration. In the footage, Lasmid appeared to place his hand on Wendy Shay’s thigh, prompting her to immediately shift it aside. Many netizens interpreted the moment as anger or embarrassment, with some claiming she humiliated him publicly.
Wendy Shay addressed the growing backlash in a recent interview with DJ Slim, insisting the incident was misread. She explained that her movement was purely practical, driven by how she was positioned on the chair. According to her, she needed to sit on the edge for the shot and required space to adjust her clothing comfortably. She emphasized that her physical build, particularly her hips and backside, made the original position awkward, necessitating the hand’s removal.
She denied any intention to embarrass Lasmid, stressing that their established rapport made such a reaction unnecessary. "I have a strong working relationship with him; that’s why I could calmly remove his hand without conflict," she said. Wendy Shay further noted that the situation has been exaggerated by onlookers who failed to consider the behind-the-scenes context of filming. She maintained that there was no disrespect intended toward her colleague.
As of now, Lasmid has not issued a public statement on the matter. The viral video remains under discussion online, but Wendy Shay’s clarification aims to correct the narrative and highlight the staged nature of the scene. With filming progressing for their upcoming project titled *U Have Me*, the incident may influence how future collaborations approach behind-the-scenes visibility.
