Speaker Bagbin Launches Ghana Law Society at Bar Conference

Speaker Alban S.K. Bagbin officially launched the Ghana Law Society at its inaugural Annual Bar Conference in Accra on September 30, 2026.
The Ghana Law Society, a new professional body for lawyers, was formally launched by Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at its maiden Annual Bar Conference in Accra.
The event gathered key state officials including Chief of Staff Dr Julius Debrah, Attorney General Dr Dominic Ayine, and a representative from the Chief Justice's Office, alongside members of the Judiciary, Parliament, and legal stakeholders.
The conference centred on the theme Legal reforms—the place of the Ghanaian lawyer, aiming to position legal professionals at the heart of national change.
Speaker Bagbin emphasized that lawyers serve as architects of the Republic, shaping not only laws but also societal progress across governance, human rights, and economic activity.
He stressed that true legal reform extends beyond passing statutes, requiring access to justice, timely case resolution, and institutions that evolve with national needs.
The launch marks a structural shift in Ghana's legal landscape, creating a dedicated platform for lawyers to influence policy and strengthen constitutional governance.
The Speaker indicated that upcoming constitutional and institutional reforms will depend on the active engagement of this newly formed body.
