A police operation in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region led to the arrest of seven individuals suspected of involvement in illegal drug activities. The raid, conducted on Wednesday night in Kenyasi, targeted a suspected hideout and resulted in the seizure of several unregistered and unlicensed motorbikes. Some suspects reportedly fled into the night when they realized officers were approaching.
Addressing journalists in Kenyasi on October 1, District Police Commander Superintendent Harold Yamoah Ponkor explained that the operation was part of an intensified effort to increase police presence and deter crime. He emphasized that the sweep formed part of a broader strategy to dismantle criminal hideouts and eliminate drug trafficking networks operating in the area.
Superintendent Ponkor confirmed that the seven detained individuals would appear in court within the next two days. Authorities continue to pursue those who escaped custody, with the district maintaining heightened patrols until stability is restored.
Police have assured residents that the ongoing operation reflects a sustained commitment to public safety and the disruption of illicit activities within the district.
