Ghanaian University Librarians Honour Four Former Chiefs For Service

The Ghana Library Association recognised four ex presidents in Kumasi this week for shaping the nation's university library system ahead of its 2026 summit
Kumasi - Ghana's university librarians have formally recognised four former national officers for their leadership of the professional body. Dr Hawa Osman who served as Secretary between 2018 and 2023 got praised as the ear of the organisation for her steady feedback. Colleagues reminded delegates how Aaron and Hur once held up Moses hands in victory. Dr Mac Anthony Cobblah who chaired from 2023 to 2025 was lauded for building a forum of hope during uncertain times. He helped steer the Secretariat through change before retiring. The honour came during the 42nd Annual General Meeting and Conference of University Librarians Ghana at the University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development in Kumasi. The summit ran from 30 September to 1 October 2026 and attracted librarians from across the country. Delegates discussed how libraries can survive in an era when universities and learning tools keep evolving. The theme focused on open access and widening public knowledge sharing. The Ghana Library Association said recognising these leaders shows how past efforts still shape the sector. It also aims to inspire current officers to carry forward their legacy as change agents. No arrangements for future events were made in the announcement.
