Parliamentary Agriculture Committee Urges Finance Minister to Fund Farmers Service Centres
Parliamentary Committee on Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa Affairs presses Finance Minister to release funds for timely completion of Farmer Service Centres across Ghana.
The Parliamentary Committee on Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa Affairs has demanded that the Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, allocate funds to finish the government’s flagship Farmer Service Centres on schedule.
The committee inspected ongoing construction sites in October, confirming progress toward the goal of building 275 centres nationwide within six months, as commissioned by President Mahama in March 2026. These centres aim to equip smallholder farmers with essential inputs and machinery.
Chairman Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw emphasized that timely financing is crucial to prevent delays, warning that stalled contractor payments could jeopardize the entire project. He urged the minister to secure ring-fenced funding immediately.
The delegation also noted several support initiatives under consideration and expressed confidence that the minister would prioritize the necessary financial arrangements, ensuring the centres deliver on their promise of agricultural transformation.
