An Okada rider transporting a sick woman to hospital died in a collision at Kasoa Jei River NDC Junction at dawn. Her daughter remains critical.
The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. when the rider, carrying the woman and her daughter, collided with a passenger vehicle near Jei River. The woman, estimated to be in her late 40s, had been taken ill and was being rushed to hospital by her daughter when the crash happened.
Eyewitness Kazabara Sogbe reported the rider was speeding to reach the hospital promptly but lost control, crashing into the moving vehicle. Residents arrived quickly after hearing the impact and found all three occupants severely injured.
The sick woman died instantly at the scene. The rider was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries. The daughter, also critically injured, is receiving treatment at Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital.
Kazabara Sogbe urged authorities to install speed calming measures along the stretch, citing reckless riding as a growing danger to road users in the area.
