Former Secretary John Boadu tops chairmanship race as party reshapes leadership ahead of 2028 elections.

The New Patriotic Party has formally inducted its freshly elected national officers in Kumasi following the National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Kojo Fosu Boadu, known as Kojo Bamba, secured the First Vice Chairmanship with 3,116 votes, while Henry Nana Boakye, popularly called Nana B, captured the Second Vice Chairmanship with 3,061 votes. Former Communications Director Nana Akomea was elected Third Vice Chairman after receiving 2,981 votes. The trio joins other newly elected officials who were sworn in alongside the rest of the party’s national executive.

In the chairmanship contest, former General Secretary John Boadu obtained 2,888 votes to win the top post, edging out former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko who gathered 2,048 votes and former National Chairman Paul Afoko who secured 490 votes. The elections are part of the NPP’s strategy to solidify its leadership structure as it readies for the 2028 general election.

Party officials emphasized unity during the swearing‑in ceremony, urging members to focus on collective goals rather than internal divisions. The newly appointed officers are expected to steer the party’s operations and policy coordination in the lead‑up to the next electoral cycle.
