NPP sets strict ID rules for national officers voting
Party says only those with Voter ID, Ghana Card or NPP card may vote in officers election on October 3, 2026.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has clarified that any delegate who wants to vote in its upcoming national officers election must show a valid identification document.
Delegates are required to present either a Voter ID card issued by the Electoral Commission, a Ghana Card from the National Identification Authority, or an official NPP party card. These IDs will be checked on the spot to confirm that the person is a registered delegate.
The party made this requirement public ahead of the scheduled election on October 3, 2026. It is part of efforts to ensure that only eligible persons take part in the internal voting.
The move is being seen as a way to tighten the party’s internal processes and prevent any unauthorised persons from interfering in the election.
The party has not announced any further changes, and voting will continue as planned on the stated date.
