Ayikuma Methodist Basic School from Accra-Dodoma clinches the 2026 Zincovit National Juniors Challenge after a thrilling finale.
The Ayikuma Methodist Basic School in Accra-Dodoma has been crowned champion of the 2026 Zincovit National Juniors Challenge. The school triumphed after reaching the grand final for the third year in a row, beating a field of 286 participants across the country. Their victory was celebrated at the Pentecost International Worship Centre in Dansoman, a venue that has hosted the competition’s finale in recent years.
Ghana’s education sector marked the occasion as a milestone for basic school competitions, especially those centred on science and quiz formats. The Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) have long supported initiatives that promote STEM learning, and this win underscores the impact of sustained investment in quiz programmes. Ayikuma’s repeated appearances reflect a growing culture of academic excellence in Ghanaian basic schools.
Prize items for the victorious school included a cash grant of GHc5,000, an ICT package, books for a library, laptops and assorted educational materials. The event attracted notable figures such as Professor Elsie Effah Kaufmann, Dean of Engineering at the University of Ghana and the NSMQ Quiz Mistress, alongside representatives from Zincovit and the organising board.
The school now prepares to share its success story with other districts, hoping to inspire similar competitions in basic schools across the nation.
