Local Government Minister Mahama Ayariga Calls for Stronger Partnerships on Decentralisation
Minister Mahama Ayariga convened development partners at Alisa Hotel to deepen collaboration on Ghana's local governance reforms.
Ghana's Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, organized a special breakfast meeting at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Wednesday, September 30, to strengthen partnerships aimed at advancing the decentralisation and local development agenda. The meeting brought together development partners and heads of government departments to review ongoing programmes, assess progress and discuss implementation challenges. Central to the discussion were issues such as local revenue mobilisation, improved service delivery, environmental sanitation, digital transformation, and local economic development. Ayariga called for greater fiscal prudence and effective execution of projects at the local level to ensure sustainable development benefits reach ordinary Ghanaians. Stakeholders present welcomed the engagement and committed to sustaining dialogue, sharing knowledge and improving coordination to support inclusive development.
