NPP Announces Voting Date and ID Rules for Oct 3 National Officer Elections

The New Patriotic Party has revealed that the election of national officers will happen on Saturday October 3 2026. The interval between party constitution checks and officer elections will be opened with a 9 am constitutional matters session and the two pm vote will occur after delegate clearances. Over thirty polling stations will host voting to select a National Chairman Vice Chairman General Secretary National Organiser National Women’s Organiser National Youth Organiser National Nasara Organiser National Treasurer and National Communications Director candidates. The Electoral Commission will supervise the exercise while the party verifies each delegate’s presence and identity before allowing a vote. No delegate will be permitted to cast a ballot if their name does not appear on the official list or if they cannot present a recognised identity proof.

Eligible identification tools are specifically stated as the Ghana EC Voter ID Ghana Card or the official NPP membership card and all party officers must alert delegates in their zones about these requirements. Party Chairman Frederick Opare Ansa emphasised that everyone must arrive early to avoid delays and work together for a smooth process. The directive follows standard practice of verifying voting rights in Ghana where identity controls prevent duplicate or fraudulent votes and ensure only registered members choose party leaders. The schedule sets a firm deadline that parties nationwide will observe on the same day.

The outcome will shape who leads NPP into future parliamentary contests and local government engagement. Members across regions will travel to designated centres to exercise their choice as part of controlled democratic activity within the party structure.
