MP Praises Ex-AG’s Role in Winning Tullow Tax Arbitration

Patrick Boamah hails Godfred Dame’s foundational work in Ghana’s arbitration victory over Tullow.
Okaikwei Central MP Patrick Boamah has publicly acknowledged former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame’s crucial contribution to Ghana’s legal triumph in the Tullow tax arbitration case.
The MP emphasised that much of the strategic litigation unfolded under Dame’s stewardship before the 2025 government transition. He noted Tullow’s February 2023 arbitration request, Ghana’s swift response, counterclaim filing and arbitrator appointments.
Dame’s administration also engaged Washington-based Foley Hoag LLP to represent Ghana and oversaw the September 2024 filing of a detailed defence backed by four witnesses.
Boamah stressed these steps were part of cumulative efforts from 2023 through 2025 that secured the recent ICC ruling favouring Ghana.
The MP called for public recognition of Dame’s work as vital to national defence against corporate tax disputes.
