Manhyia South representative Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah will present himself to EOCO officers today following court authorization for a financial investigation.

Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah plans to report himself to the Economic and Organised Crime Office today after the High Court approved an arrest warrant. The warrant was granted on September 30 by a court that found EOCO had tried all reasonable ways to get him to appear voluntarily. This follows a previous attempt by EOCO officers on September 23 at the Accra High Court when they visited to arrest him directly. That visit came after two official invitations sent to the legislator in February 2026 about ongoing financial matters, officials confirmed.

The allegations focus on suspected improper transactions at SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Limited. Prosecutors say this involves possible loss of public funds and money laundering activities under investigation. Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem-Sai confirmed disciplinary concerns while stressing these claims remain unproven and pending judicial review. The case reflects a broader pattern of accountability efforts targeting high-level political figures.

Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah represents constituents around Kumasi traditionally associated with the Asante region. His surrender to EOCO would mark a notable moment in Ghana's anti-corruption enforcement history where sitting lawmakers face legal scrutiny. Legal observers warn of potential repercussions for how such investigations proceed against elected officials.

ECOCO Director-General Finance Wilson Aryee indicated the organization considers this development part of its nine-month growth strategy aimed at strengthening financial oversight nationwide.
