Nollywood icons including Kanayo O. Kanayo and Patience Ozokwor will arrive in Accra on September 30, 2026, as Ghanaian filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin launches his new movie project.

Kumawood filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin is set to begin production on his latest international film, A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu), following the arrival of top Nollywood actors in Accra. The production team confirmed that stars such as Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor, Mike Ezuruonye, Zubby Michael and Destiny Etiko will land at Accra International Airport’s Terminal 3 at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, to commence filming activities.

This visit marks Lilwin’s second major collaboration with Nigerian film talent after the widely recognised A Country Called Ghana, which earned international festival attention. That earlier project demonstrated the potential of Ghana-Nigeria creative partnerships in reshaping regional storytelling. Now, the stakes are higher, with Lilwin aiming to elevate Ghana’s cinematic reach through even broader star power and global distribution goals.

The new film draws direct inspiration from Nzulezu, a historic stilt village on the Amansuri wetland in Ghana’s Western Region. The location serves as both setting and symbolic backdrop for the story, which explores transnational journeys across the African continent. Filming activities are expected to move beyond the airport arrival into studios and scenic locations across Accra in the coming weeks.
