Kotoko face Karela test at home in GPL opener

Kumasi's Porcupine Warriors seek to arrest winless streak against Karela United on Oct 1.
Kotoko returns to league action this week when Karela United visit the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on October 1.
The Porcupine Warriors have taken only a single point from their first two matches, leaving them winless and without a victory in any of their opening four fixtures.
A 2-0 defeat to Aduana FC last Sunday deepened Kotoko's crisis, a result that arrived after they played the entire second half with ten men and failed to create a clear chance.
With head coach Eric Tinkler gone, interim boss Hamza Obeng steps into his first top‑flight match, tasked with guiding the team through a tough encounter.
Karela, who opened their campaign with a 1‑0 win over Hearts of Oak, have scored in all four league rounds but are winless on the road for weeks.
The visitors have dropped three successive away games, conceding twice each time, and last tasted victory on the road back in February 2026.
At home, Kotoko enjoy an unbeaten run of six matches against Karela, winning three and drawing the other three.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT, providing an early litmus test for the interim technical handling of the Kumasi giants.
