The Accra High Court has postponed the trial of Salomey Awiti Baffoe until October 5, 2024.
The adjournment comes amid the Association of Judges and Magistrates Conference, which has repeatedly delayed the hearing. This marks another postponement in the eight‑month legal battle surrounding accusations of publishing false news online.
Salomey Baffoe, a senior nursing officer, remains in custody after the court denied her bail request on September 24. Prosecutors argued she could tamper with evidence, while her lawyers contended the charge is bailable and highlighted her role as a mother with a child entering senior high school.
The defence plans to appeal the bail refusal, asserting that the state’s evidence was insufficient to justify continued detention.
The next hearing is scheduled for Friday, October 5, where further directions will be given.
