GTEC orders Colleges of Education to start 2026/2027 admissions amid fee delays

GTEC has instructed all public Colleges of Education to open fresh admissions for 2026/2027 immediately despite pending fee approval.
GTEC has ordered every public College of Education to open fresh admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year without delay. The directive came in a letter dated September 30, 2026 from Director-General Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdullai. The Commission said Colleges cannot wait for approval of new fees before starting the intake process. Instead they must proceed using the 2025/2026 fee rates as an interim measure. This ensures prospective students can begin admission checks while the new fee structure awaits final clearance from the Education Minister. GTEC confirmed the existing rates will be reviewed once approval is secured. The move aims to accelerate placement of qualified students into teacher training programmes. Education stakeholders have welcomed the step as a relief for families facing delayed school openings. The Commission stressed that all institutions must act at once to avoid further disruption.
