Volta Region's Fire Service conducted rescues in flood-stricken areas of Hohoe following days of heavy rain.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Hohoe Division launched a rescue operation on Monday, September 28, after intense rainfall triggered flash flooding across multiple communities within the Hohoe Municipality. Rising waters stranded residents in locales including Star Filling Station, Picnic, Hohoe Central Zongo, Segbedeme, Kitikpa, and Wegbe. Prompt response teams, under the command of DOIII Bismark Hosu-Porbley, evacuated affected persons to safety and relocated them to secure areas.

Prior to the rescue effort, the GNFS had issued a public advisory urging citizens to remain vigilant during periods of prolonged rain. In its official notice released on October 1, the Service highlighted specific flood-prone zones needing heightened caution when water levels escalated. These warnings followed reports of swollen rivers and overflowing drains as rainwater pooled in low-lying settlements.

Authorities emphasized that immediate action was necessary to prevent harm as flood conditions intensified across the region. Residents were specifically advised against attempting to traverse inundated pathways or linger near drainage channels.

The Operation underscored Ghana's ongoing vulnerability to climate-related emergencies such as flooding which frequently impact communities during seasonal rains.

No further operational updates were provided after the initial rescue effort concluded.
