New Ghana Law Society launched at maiden Conference 2023 to champion accessible justice and professional excellence.

The Ghana Law Society (GLS) has officially launched at its inaugural annual conference in Accra. This new association brings together lawyers across the country with a clear mission: to improve access to justice for all Ghanaians and to elevate the standards of the legal profession.

The launch event, held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, gathered legal practitioners, judges, and policymakers to discuss critical challenges facing the delivery of justice in Ghana. Founding members emphasized that the GLS will serve as a united voice to advocate for reforms that make legal services more affordable and reachable, especially for rural and vulnerable communities who have long struggled to navigate the justice system.

This initiative comes at a time when many ordinary Ghanaians still face significant barriers to seeking legal redress, from high court fees to complex procedural hurdles. The GLS aims to address these issues through public education, policy engagement, and collaboration with state institutions to ensure justice is not a privilege but a right for every citizen.

Going forward, the society plans to organize regular forums, support legal education, and work with parliament on legislative improvements. Its success will be measured by how effectively it can translate advocacy into tangible change for everyday people across all 16 regions of Ghana.
