Fire incident at Akweteyman destroys valuables in one apartment, 12 units saved, no casualties reported
A domestic fire erupted in a three-chamber-and-hall flat at Akweteyman near 1Living God Preparatory School on Tuesday night, consuming personal belongings including furniture and electronics. The Ghana National Fire Service confirmed that 12 adjacent units remained untouched due to swift intervention.
Firefighters from Legon Fire Station received the alert via Fire Master Control at 10:20 p.m. and reached the scene within 20 minutes. They contained the inferno by 11:20 p.m., though complete extinguishment occurred just past midnight. The blaze originated in a single unit but threatened to engulf neighboring flats.
No lives were lost as all occupants escaped safely. Investigators now examine the scene to determine the ignition source amid rising concerns over domestic fire hazards in high-density neighborhoods.
Efforts to salvage additional items from affected areas continued as authorities emphasized the need for public vigilance in electrical maintenance.
