Over 50,000 Ghanaians will receive free meals as Chef Abbys celebrates World Food Day through a large-scale street feast in Ghana’s two largest cities.

Chef Stephen KwameAbbys, known simply as Chef Abbys, is spearheading The Big Street Feast 2.0 on October 16, a free public event delivering meals to more than 50,000 people across Accra and Kumasi.

The initiative forms part of global World Food Day commemorations, aiming to highlight food security challenges while providing immediate relief to vulnerable communities. Past editions of The Big Street Feast have drawn massive crowds in Accra’s Circles and other public spaces, establishing Chef Abbys as a prominent figure in Ghana’s domestic advocacy around nutrition and waste reduction.

Ghanaians can expect a festive atmosphere as the feast unfolds simultaneously in key locations across both cities, featuring live cooking demonstrations, cultural performances, and distribution points coordinated with local community groups.

This year’s expanded reach reflects growing recognition of food scarcity issues in urban Ghana, with organizers emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing hunger.

Mass mobilization efforts are already underway through social media campaigns and partnerships with churches and market associations to ensure broad community participation before the October 16 event date.
