Bawumia urges NPP aspirants to accept election results and reunite party

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia called on NPP aspirants to accept results and unite after the party's national elections in Kumasi.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday, October 3, 2026, urged all aspirants contesting the New Patriotic Party's national executive positions to accept the election outcomes and work together to strengthen the party.
Speaking at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi during the NPP's National Delegates Conference and officers' elections, Dr Bawumia stressed that the contests are an internal process to select leaders for the party's collective interest, not a source of lasting divisions.
He appealed to successful candidates to reach out to their opponents and to those who lose to support the newly elected national executives, emphasizing that the party needs everyone moving forward.
"When voting ends today, the contest must also end," he said, urging all contestants to put the internal competition behind them and focus on the party's broader objectives.
Dr Bawumia highlighted that the newly elected executives will lead the NPP through its next phase and called for unity to rebuild the party's trust with the people.
The appeal comes amid delegate voting to elect new national officers who will steer the party toward the 2028 general elections.
