Alhaji Seidu Agongo Launches Women and Youth Empowerment Initiative

Businessman and philanthropist Alhaji Seidu Agongo has launched a nationwide programme to empower women and young people across Ghana. The initiative will target communities in all sixteen regions to provide skills training, micro‑grant support and mentorship opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The move builds on Alhaji Agongo’s long‑standing work through the Seidu Agongo Foundation, which has for years supported health, education and agricultural projects in rural Ghana. Stakeholders say the new focus on gender and youth reflects growing concerns about unemployment and the need to harness the country’s young population for economic growth.

Industry observers expect the programme to fast‑track existing vocational schemes and attract private sector partnerships that could expand its reach. Launch events are planned in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale over the next few weeks, with registration opening for interested participants.

The foundation has set out clear eligibility criteria: beneficiaries must be between 18 and 35 for youth groups and women aged 18 and above, with priority given to those in underserved areas.
