Afenyo-Markin assures NPP of 2028 electoral victory with divine support

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin pledges NPP victory in 2028 elections with God's guidance during Kumasi conference
The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, told the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during its conference in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, that divine intervention would secure the party's win in the 2028 general elections.
He urged all party members to unite, reorganise the party structure and rally behind the flagbearer ahead of the elections.
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, in a video message played at the same event, said Ghanaians desire the NPP to steer the nation toward prosperity and transformation.
He called for careful selection of new national executives who could restore public confidence in the party and reflect the sovereignty of the people.
Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also expressed optimism, stating that with God's guidance, the NPP would win the 2028 elections as it did in 2000 and 2016, and return to power with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as president.
The NPP National Delegates Conference in Kumasi brought together party delegates to elect new national officers and adopt proposed constitutional amendments.
The conference, held at the Baba Yara Stadium, featured a warm reception for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia upon his arrival.
Some NDC representatives boycotted the event, citing a late start, while NPP officials expressed disappointment over the absence.
Calls for accountability and free criticism of government were reiterated, with Afenyo-Markin stating that citizens must hold the government accountable without fear of arrest.
The party has intensified its campaign activities ahead of the 2028 elections, with growing public interest in NPP merchandise in Kumasi.
Debates over constitutional reforms and party leadership continue to shape the NPP's internal dynamics as the election cycle progresses.
