Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu confirmed site commencement for the new 120-bed specialised trauma hospital in Bole.

The project, announced by the Minister yesterday via his Facebook page, will see a 16,000-square-metre facility rise in Bole, capital of the Savannah Region. This modern hospital will deliver critical emergency trauma services including a 24-hour accident unit, resuscitation bays, emergency operating theatres, and specialised trauma wards alongside ICU and HDU facilities. It will also feature orthopaedic and surgical units, imaging services and a dedicated burns treatment centre. The initiative represents a significant push to expand emergency healthcare access for residents of Bole and nearby communities.

For ordinary Ghanaians, the hospital’s focus on trauma care addresses a long-standing gap in specialized emergency services outside major city hospitals. Its presence in the Savannah Region, traditionally underserved in high-level medical infrastructure, will provide life-saving care closer to home. The facility’s design incorporates modern emergency protocols aimed at reducing response delays for critical cases.

Construction activities have begun as confirmed through official government channels, marking the transition from planning to tangible work on the ground. The project forms part of broader national efforts to strengthen regional healthcare delivery systems and diversify medical infrastructure beyond Accra and Kumasi. This step signals commitment to equitable healthcare development across all regions.

No specific public event like a ceremony or inauguration has been scheduled yet. The hospital’s operational timeline remains tied to the construction phase, with completion expected to follow standard building protocols. The next phase involves continued site development and facility setup to achieve full functional status.
