Sammy Crabbe Drops Out of NPP Chairmanship Race, Endorses John Boadu

Former Greater Accra NPP Chairman Sammy Crabbe has withdrawn from the party’s national chairmanship contest and backed John Boadu ahead of the delegates conference in Kumasi.
Sammy Crabbe, a veteran figure in the New Patriotic Party and former Greater Accra Regional Chairman, announced his decision to abandon the race for national chairman. He cited unity and collective effort as the driving forces behind his endorsement of John Boadu, the party’s former General Secretary. Boadu confirmed the development on social media, urging Ghanaians to rally behind the new ticket ahead of the National Delegates Conference scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The conference marks a pivotal moment for the NPP as it elects new national officers amid preparations for the 2028 general election. Crabbe’s withdrawal follows a ballot exercise in September in which Boadu secured the top position and Crabbe placed second among four cleared aspirants, which also included former National Chairman Paul Afoko and former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko. With over 7,000 delegates expected to attend, the event will determine the party’s leadership structure as it repositions for national electoral competition. Crabbe’s endorsement is seen as a strategic move to consolidate support behind Boadu’s candidacy, reflecting shifting alliances within the party’s national executive.
