Kodua wins NPP GS race with 4,486 votes as party reshapes youth leadership ahead of 2028 elections

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has re-elected Justin Frimpong Kodua as its General Secretary following a tightly contested election at the National Delegates Conference held in Kumasi on October 3, 2026. At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kodua secured 4,486 votes to retain his position as the party’s chief administrator. He was challenged by former Ngleshie Amanfro MP Sylvester Tetteh, who received 1,340 votes, while Eugene Boakye Antwi and Dr Charles Dwamena garnered 162 and 126 votes respectively. The elections formed part of broader national executive polls aimed at positioning the party for the 2028 general election. In a separate but concurrent contest, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu was elected National Youth Organiser with 1,550 votes, defeating five other aspirants. Clement Opoku Gyamfi placed second with 631 votes, followed by Michael Osei Boateng with 78 votes. Former Deputy National Youth Organiser Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah received 46 votes, while Vera Oye Bram-Larbi and Alfred Kumi Ababio got 44 and 25 votes respectively. The elections, which drew delegates from across the country, underscore the NPP’s internal democratic process as it prepares to restructure its leadership ahead of the next electoral cycle.
