Kwadwo Fosu Boadu, known as Kojo Bamba, wins top NPP vice chairmanship role with 3,116 votes at the party's conference in Kumasi on October 3, 2026.

Kwadwo Fosu Boadu, widely known as Kojo Bamba, has been chosen as National First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The election took place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026, where he secured 3,116 votes to win one of three Vice Chairmanship positions. His victory came after a contest involving 13 aspirants seeking the three slots.

Bamba's political trajectory traces back to his early leadership of Delta Force, a pro-NPP vigilante group active in the Ashanti Region after the party's 2016 electoral success. The group was involved in a high-profile clash over the appointment of George Adjei as Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, which led to violence and subsequent convictions of some members. Prior to this, Bamba worked as an auto mechanic before entering partisan politics.

In 2018, he transitioned into formal party structures when he was appointed Deputy National Director of Operations of the NPP youth wing. This role marked a shift from street-level mobilisation to official party administration.

His campaign for the Vice Chairmanship centred on grassroots mobilisation as a cornerstone for the party's 2028 electoral prospects. Speaking to delegates, Bamba argued that constituency executives form the backbone of the party, driving voter mobilisation and safeguarding polling stations long before national figures arrive. He stressed the need to empower these local structures, stating that those who build power should also benefit from its rewards.

During the campaign, he pledged to champion the welfare of party officials nationwide, vowing to rectify past oversights and improve conditions for members across all levels. He also positioned himself as a proponent of peaceful elections, a stance reinforced during the 2025 Akwatia by-election when he urged voters to participate in a calm and orderly environment.

Bamba now joins a newly constituted national leadership team that includes National Chairman John Boadu, Second Vice Chairman Henry Nana Boakye, and Third Vice Chairman Nana Akomea. Their election signals a reorientation of the party's organisational focus ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The NPP leadership expressed confidence that the new set of officers would steer the party toward renewal and electoral victory. In particular, Vice Chairman John Boadu called for unity and collective responsibility, urging members to set aside divisions and work toward a common goal.

With his deep roots in grassroots mobilisation and prior experience in party youth operations, Bamba is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the NPP's outreach strategy. His elevation to a top national position reflects the party's emphasis on rewarding loyal structures that have historically driven its electoral success.

The coming months will see the newly elected officers engage in extensive mobilisation ahead of the 2028 election cycle. Their effectiveness in uniting the party and expanding its base will be closely watched by political observers across Ghana.
