Delegates will decide on key party structure changes including the January clause reversal and flagbearer leadership proposal.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has begun its national delegates conference at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, gathering 7,163 delegates for two critical tasks. By October 3, they will vote on 47 aspirants for nine vacant positions and decide on proposed constitutional amendments. The amendments include reversing the January clause that currently makes the National Chairman party leader at all times, and instead proposing that the flagbearer assumes party leadership. Another key change requires aspirants to declare for specific Vice Chairperson slots before voting, moving away from the current system where candidates contest for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Vice Chairperson positions based on vote rankings. Additionally, the party seeks to appoint three new Vice Chairpersons without elections across national, regional, and constituency levels, while creating new Deputy Communications Officer roles at all administrative levels. The IT Officer position would also gain executive status with officers added to regional and constituency executive structures. The President would be reinstated on the National Steering Committee, and all card-bearing members would gain delegate rights in presidential and parliamentary primaries. The conference follows heightened political activity, with recent debates over chairmanship candidates like Boakye Agyarko and John Boadu leading polls at 48%.
