NITA appoints entrepreneur Anthony Owusu-Ansah as Acting Deputy Director-General to boost Ghana’s digital transformation drive

Anthony Owusu-Ansah has been appointed Acting Deputy Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency, NITA, in Accra. The move comes as the state agency accelerates Ghana’s digital transformation agenda and expands public access to government services through technology. Owusu-Ansah, a well-known technology entrepreneur, brings deep experience in digital innovation and business leadership to the role. He founded ShaQ Express, a logistics company that uses tech solutions and motorcycles to deliver goods across the country. His other ventures include ShaQApp, a digital solutions firm, and Vacancies Limited, which operates the PrivateLearn platform for education. These companies reflect his hands-on work in building tech products and forming partnerships in Ghana’s growing digital space. NITA, as the regulator of information technology and promoter of digital standards, will benefit directly from his background in real-world tech deployment and service delivery. His appointment strengthens the agency’s efforts to position Ghana as a technology hub in West Africa. The agency continues to push forward key initiatives that improve how citizens interact with government services online. Owusu-Ansah’s new role places him directly within the leadership team overseeing these changes. His experience in commercialising digital services is expected to support NITA’s mandate of advancing digital infrastructure and policy implementation. The agency highlighted that his leadership will help shape the future of public digital services in Ghana.
