Manhyia South MP Surfaces at EOCO Office After High Court Arrest Warrant

Akufo-Addo's former deputy minister Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has reported himself to EOCO following a court-ordered arrest warrant.
Yesterday, Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah presented himself at the Economic and Organised Crime Office in Accra.
This move came after the High Court handed down an arrest warrant on September 30, allowing EOCO to detain him.
His legal counsel, Samuel Atta Akyea, arrived with him and confirmed the voluntary surrender.
The former Abuakwa South MP said he was ready to cooperate fully with investigators while insisting that proper legal procedures must be observed.
The court order followed EOCO's claim that repeated invitations sent since February 2026 were ignored, leaving no alternative but to seek judicial enforcement.
An earlier attempt to apprehend him at the Accra High Court on September 23 sparked tension between the opposition politician's supporters and law enforcement officials.
While in custody, EOCO has been granted authority to search his residence and confiscate documents tied to an ongoing probe into suspected unauthorized financial dealings at SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited.
Multiple ruling party figures, including Subin MP Obiri Yeboah and former Deputy Attorney-General Joseph Kpemka, were spotted at the EOCO facility expressing solidarity with the legislator.
Investigations reportedly focus on alleged improper transactions involving state-insured savings schemes operated by SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited.
The legal team maintains that the MP's cooperation demonstrates respect for constitutional processes and distinguishes his conduct from that of a common criminal suspect.
