Manhyia South MP Baffour Awuah Surrenders to EOCO Amid Arrest Warrant

MP Baffour Awuah reports to EOCO following court warrant as investigation begins
The Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has reported to the Economic and Organized Crime Office to answer a High Court warrant for his arrest issued on September 30, 2026. His appearance at the EOCO office came with his legal counsel Samuel Atta Kyea and several fellow MPs, including Kofi Amankwah Manu and Obiri Yeboah.
The warrant was granted after EOCO informed the court that it had pursued all measures to secure the MP's voluntary presence, including an earlier invitation and a failed attempt that escalated into a confrontation at Accra High Court. Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem-Sai confirmed the investigation concerns alleged unauthorized transactions involving SIC Life Savings and Loans Limited and related charges of financial loss and money laundering.
The MP intends to engage fully with the investigative process and has not sought to evade scrutiny. His counsel has emphasized he will cooperate with the authorities and allow the case to proceed under due process. The involvement of senior figures, including a Deputy Attorney General, signals a rare moment of accountability for a sitting MP.
Further details about the investigation's scope are expected to emerge as the process unfolds. EOCO has indicated it will pursue all avenues to ensure transparency and public confidence in the outcome.
