Mahama reaffirms Volta development at Asogli Te Za

President Mahama’s chief of staff delivered a message of commitment to Volta development at the Asogli Te Za festival.
President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his government’s focus on developing the Volta Region, emphasizing youth employment, support for women entrepreneurs and regional economic collaboration. Chief of Staff Dr Julius Debrah represented the President at the Asogli Te Za celebration in Asogli State, conveying Mahama’s greetings to Togbe Afede XIV, traditional leaders and residents.
Debrah highlighted the President’s appreciation for Togbe Afede’s 23 years of leadership, praising his guidance and service. He wished the Agbogbomefia long life and strength to continue leading the state. The Chief of Staff thanked the traditional ruler for commending the government, stating such recognition motivates continued national development efforts.
The Chief of Staff said he would relay concerns about youth job opportunities, funding for women-led enterprises and recommendations from a broader economic forum led by Togbe Afede to President Mahama. He affirmed the government’s willingness to collaborate with traditional authorities and stakeholders to advance regional development.
During the address, Debrah reiterated Ghana’s advocacy for fairer global development, a stronger African voice in international institutions, expanded trade and investment, and justice for African peoples. He assured residents of the Volta Region that the President’s heart remained close to their homeland, even as official duties occasionally took him abroad.
The Asogli festival was described as a celebration of thanksgiving, homecoming and renewed community bonds. Its harvest symbolism reflected farmers’ labour, rainfall blessings, ancestral memory and the promise of fruitful results from diligent work. Debrah praised Togbe Afede for blending traditional leadership with forward-looking vision, positioning culture as a driver of unity, enterprise and development.
The address also commended Volta Regional Minister James Gunu for his energetic and practical approach to translating development plans into tangible outcomes. The people of the Volta Region were described as dignified, educated, industrious and hospitable. The call for collective effort, strong leadership and collaboration was presented as essential to achieving the region’s development aspirations.
