Kakye Ofosu Defends EOCO Amid Kidnapping Claims Over Baffour Awuah

Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu rejects accusations that EOCO tried to kidnap MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
Minister of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu says he finds it hard to believe that the Economic and Organised Crime Office could be accused of planning to kidnap Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
He insists the video of the September 23 encounter outside the Accra High Court shows only polite interaction, not aggression. According to him, the female officer appeared to be pleading with the MP to accompany her, not forcing him.
The minister adds EOCO possessed the capability to deploy a tactical team for a forceful arrest but chose not to. He emphasizes the difference between a peaceful engagement and the kidnapping narrative.
Baffour Awuah later said he left the scene fearing an attempted kidnapping, while EOCO maintains the incident was a lawful arrest linked to an ongoing investigation.
