Governs Agbodza Presses Contractors to Fast-Track Accra-Kumasi Bypass Completion by 2027

During a recent monitoring visit, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, urged the contractors handling the project to intensify their work so that the entire stretch can be opened before the close of 2027.

This call comes as part of the Akufo-Addo administration’s broader agenda to ease urban congestion in the capital and improve intercity travel across the nation’s southern sector. The 24-kilometre dual carriageway, which links Accra to Ghana’s second-largest city, has faced delays due to funding challenges and supply chain bottlenecks in recent months.

For ordinary Ghanaians, a quicker completion means shorter travel times between Accra and Kumasi, reducing the daily stress of road traffic, especially for commuters and commercial drivers who rely on this corridor. It also supports economic activity by facilitating the faster movement of goods and services.
