Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways, has issued a stark warning to utility firms and telecom operators. Digging up freshly completed roads to lay cables or pipes is unacceptable. This practice jeopardizes road integrity nationwide.
The minister stressed that such actions violate protocols protecting new infrastructure. His directive targets both water and electricity service providers. Road construction requires months of precise work and significant public funds.
District Assemblies are mandated to ensure no repeated digging occurs without proper coordination. Works and Housing Minister Nii Lante Barker Boye affirmed strict enforcement.
This warning follows past damage incidents. Just last week officials discovered underground utilities seized during construction, now harming roads in Odorkor Heights near Danquah Circle under Accra Metropolitan Assembly jurisdiction.
