Ghana and GFA set up committee to appoint new Black Stars coach after Queiroz resignation following AFCON qualifier losses.

The Ghana Football Association and the government have agreed to create a technical committee to appoint a new head coach for the Black Stars. This follows a meeting at the Sports Ministry on Friday, 2 October, after the team's poor start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. Ghana lost both opening Group C matches, first to an opponent 2-0, then to The Gambia 4-2 despite leading 2-0. The defeats led to Carlos Queiroz resigning as coach. A joint technical committee made up of government and GFA representatives will now drive the search for his replacement. No timeline has been shared for when the committee will be formed or when the new coach will be named. The Black Stars will next play in the AFCON qualifiers with a double-header at the Accra Sports Stadium next month. They are aiming to qualify for the 2027 tournament, which Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will co-host.
