Dr Peter Boasiako says reduced grounding of new NPP people from Grassland County in Tamale cost the party support in 2024

Dr Peter Boasiako has pinpointed the weakening of frontline leadership in Ghana's New Patriotic Party as a pivotal cause behind its poor showing in the 2024 elections. He argues that recent changes allowing newer party members to take charge without sufficient senior oversight created gaps in political experience that ordinary voters could no longer bridge.

The seasoned strategist notes that grassroots networks once depended heavily on trusted figures emerging from key constituencies like Grassland County in Tamale. When these established leaders were gradually edged out, community-level political influence weakened. Tamale's electoral patterns reflect this shift, as areas that traditionally rallied around senior experts流失 turned more cautiously toward alternative choices.

Boasiako emphasizes that while fresh energy entered the party, experienced figures who understand Ghanaian voter psychology from direct field work are hard to replace. Without their anchors in daily political engagement, campaign messaging faltered to connect with working-class voters.

He warns that sustaining election success requires deliberate efforts to preserve large-scale grassroots intelligence carried by long-serving hands. Simply introducing new people does not replicate the depth of local political know-how embedded across party structures.
