Ex-Volta MDCEs Urge Mahama Appointee to Release Unpaid End‑Benefit Payments

Former municipal and district chief executives in the Volta Region are asking the Finance Ministry to settle delayed end‑benefit payments owed to them after single‑term appointments.
Former Municipal and District Chief Executives who served during the John Mahama administration but were not re‑appointed have formally requested that the current Mahama‑appointed Regional Minister for Finance clear the accrued terminal benefits still pending for them.
The group argues that the delay places an unnecessary strain on retired officials who relied on the scheduled severance allowance to manage their post‑service transition. Their case is rooted in the same terms of service applied to past appointees, making the outstanding balance a matter of contractual fairness rather than a new entitlement.
Since the formation of the Volta Regional Ministerial Committee, successive ministers including Hannah Bendi have only issued promises of timely resolution without delivering the funds. The latest appeal seeks to force a concrete administrative action before the end of the current fiscal window.
Current efforts focus on appointing a new Regional Minister who will prioritize clearing the long‑overdue payments and restoring confidence in municipal succession processes across the region.
