Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority, Divine Selasie Agbeti, has urged banks, fintechs, telcos and regulators to share cyber threat intelligence swiftly to blunt attacks.

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) is demanding that the financial sector accelerate the exchange of cyber threat intelligence. At the opening of the 2026 National Cyber Security Awareness Month, Director-General Divine Selasie Agbeti explained that criminals do not respect institutional silos. He cited recent incidents where attacks on a bank or telco rippled across the digital economy, endangering customers.

Agbeti urged banks, fintechs, telecommunication firms, regulators, and law enforcement to move past isolated security efforts and establish a unified response network. He argued that collaboration will be judged not by the volume of agreements signed but by how fast threats are detected, communicated, and neutralised. The CSA believes timely information flows can stop attacks before they drain resources.

This directive comes as Ghana's digital economy expands, linking payment platforms, mobile money, and online banking. A breach in one corner can cascade, eroding public confidence and causing financial loss for millions of users. The authority expects market players to draft concrete intelligence-sharing protocols within weeks.

The call coincides with heightened scrutiny of cyber risk in the wake of global incidents. Stakeholders now face pressure to tighten cooperation or risk regulatory penalties.
